Security - Tai Tuara

To reflect the security and warmth of family, the taniwha carved from New Zealand jade is bound by woven natural flax to a goat horn which is wrapped with hemp. The horn is secured with copper pins to Kaiawa river stone which sits on a hemp base and is carved with entwined koru.

Kaiawa – Food from rivers and streams.

Koru – Symbolises the unfurled sliver fern leaf, depicting new beginnings, growth and harmony. It represents nurturing and when entwined with others, embodies the strength and purity of loving family relationships.

Taniwha – Mythical creature said to live in the oceans and inland waters of New Zealand. It represents protector and guardian of kinsmen and family.
