Beauty - Ataahua
 

The taniwha with a paua shell eye is carved from New Zealand pounamu. It is mounted on a Kaiawa river stone carved with entwined koru and inset with a koru of pounamu beads symbolising the beauty of family.

 
Kaiawa – Food from rivers and streams.

 

Koru – Symbolises the unfurled sliver fern leaf, depicting new beginnings, growth and harmony. It represents nurturing and when entwined with others, embodies the strength and purity of loving family relationships.

 

Taniwha – Mythical creature said to live in the oceans and inland waters of New Zealand. It represents protector and guardian of kinsmen and family.
